Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

Location: New York Street
Ride Type: Playground

When you first saw Honey, I Shrunk the Kids in the movies, every kid wanted to have the chance to be that small. Disney has made it happen.

Ride Overview
Our Rating(Out of 5):
Presentation
A very smart and fun attraction as the replication of being a few inches tall in a backyard is acheived fairly(and surprisingly) well.
4
Guest Appeal
Honestly, only children who qualify for Happy Meals will enjoy this attraction.
1
Disney World Veteran Rating
Time is better spent riding Tower of Terror again.
1
Teen Rating
Only die hard fans of the movies will enjoy this attraction.
1.5
Lasting Appeal
Kid's will probably love this and adults will role their eyes at the prospect of going again. A good place to let your kid's release some energy.

Full Description: An elaborate playground has been created in the Studios to bring the idea of people being shrunk to smaller than grass size in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure. Similiar in notion to Tom Sawyers Island in the Magic Kingdom, this movie set is smaller, but has more attention to detail. Inside you'll find sprinklers, ants, and huge blades of grass.

Comments: This playground is really geared towards children more than adults. That being the case, you can let your kids run free in here while you relax outside and wait for them to come as there are Disney staff on hand inside. The somewhat small, padded play area is themed after the hit movie. And due to its size, it has a very limited capacity, mostly due to people who dont know what it is and come in to see.

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set AdventureLines usually persist throughout the afternoon, however, there is another reason not to go on this in the afternoon. Much like any play area at your local McDonalds, the surfaces tend to get hot from the sun and makes it uncomfortable. Add very little ventihilation and you'll quickly want out.

Again, due to the limited capacity, you'll find during busier hours that you may have to wait for room to become available. There is no one inside telling guests when to leave so there will probably be alot of stragglers. Probably the only reason to send your kids here would be if they have too much energy or aren't adept to the "big rides" and want something more to their taste.

Gripes aside, the attention to detail is amazing and to Disney's credit, they've recreated the world of being an inch tall or so very well. You might consider going in briefly even if you do not have children with you for the photo opportunities. For parents who wait for their children outside, a good idea is to wait for them in the shaded Backlot Express where you can cool down and grab a refreshment or a quick bite to eat.
