Star Tours 2 Tributes
I'm a big fan of Star Tours 2 and having ridden quite a few times now, I've picked up on a few tributes found in the current ride to the Star Wars films and even the original Star Tours. Here are a few of my favorites.
In the pre-boarding safety video, we see a kid turn around in his seat and take a flash photo of Chewbacca, which results in Chewie growling at him. This is an hommage to the original Star Tours safety video in which a different kid does the same thing to the same effect.
During the ride, if you receive a message from Princess Leia, you'll hear her say, "Help me Star Tours, you're my only hope". This is a parody of the original (and quite famous) line from Star Wars: A New Hope where Princess Leia delivers a message via R2-D2 saying, "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."
At the end of the Naboo scene where C-3PO is trying to stop the Starspeeder before it crashes, he says, "Brakes! Brakes! Where are the brakes?!”. This is the same line that Captain Rex said at the end of the original Star Tours attraction.
Speaking of C-3PO and R2-D2, right before your special message is played, R2-D2 chirps and C-3PO responds, "What message?". This is a reference to the original Star Wars when R2-D2 informs C-3PO that he has a special message for Obi-Wan Kenobi.
