Legends of Hollywood

Legends of Hollywood, like so many other buildings in Disney's Hollywood Studios, has its architecture based on a real life iconic Los Angeles landmark.

Legends of Hollywood, like so many other buildings in Disney's Hollywood Studios, has its architecture based on a real life iconic Los Angeles landmark.

Legends of Hollywood is a replica of the Academy Theater, located in Inglewood, California, which was built in 1939 by architect S. Charles Lee. The building is a classic Art Moderne structure and was originally designed to house the Academy Awards, however, the Academy Theater never did host the Oscars, but it was often the location of film premieres and served as a major suburban theater for the Fox West Coast Theatres chain.

Since 1975, the building was sold to a church, which still uses the building and keeps it in excellent condition.

In Disney's Hollywood Studios, this shop has served as the place to get select Disney merchandise.  Early on it was a shop that featured Winnie the Pooh merchandise and then became home to lots of Tinkerbell merchandise and in recent years has been home to Hannah Montana, Camp Rock and now Marvel merchandise.
