The big thing this year at Walt Disney World is the "Limited Time Magic" promotion, where each week there's a new celebration that is limited to one park or land or even attraction to do something special for a limited time. Thus far we've seen New Years Eve celebrated in Tomorrowland for a week and this week there's a winter wonderland in the Canada pavilion of Epcot.
Naturally this got me thinking of some other Limited Time Magic ideas that could easily come to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Of course, I'm trying to be realistic with my ideas so grandiose notions of spending a few million dollars on just 7 days is probably not practical.
Without having an intimate knowledge of the Tower of Terror's computers, I feel like this would be something easy to do. Basically the Tower of Terror as it is now has its normal random array of drop sequences. For one week, it would be great to advertise extra long drop sequences for even more thrills. So assuming today the drop sequences last about 30-45 seconds, double or triple it to a full minute or two of thrills.
This idea would be perfect for slower times of the year when the park could handle the extra wait times that would develop as a result of lowering the ride's capacity for guests per hour. But who wouldn't want to enjoy extra long thrils?
In the Great Movie Ride, it would be pretty neat to get some (good) celebrity impersonators to play the role of the audio-animatronic characters in the attraction. Imagine having Clint Eastwood, Gene Kelley or Sigourney Weaver be much more active that they are now to really make the scenes they are in feel like they are coming alive.
Disney's Hollywood Studios has been well known for its annual weekend celebrations such as Star Wars Weekends, ESPN the Weekend (RIP) and Super Soap Weekend (RIP), so let's that concept and expand on it for the short term.
One quick idea would be Pixar Weekend, where you can meet every Pixar character that Disney has created a character for along with screenings of Pixar films in Sounds Dangerous and perhaps even an opportunity to meet some of the people that worked on the films.
The Comedy Warehouse shows were a highlight for many park guests during Chrismtas week, but just as Disney brought back the Golden Horseshow Revue in Disneyland, let's bring back Comedy Warehouse one more time this year during a more manageable time of year. It would be a treat to see the Comedy Warehouse shows during another week in addition to Christmas.
Those are a few of my ideas, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. Share your ideas for Limited Time Magic celebrations at Disney's Hollywood Stuidos in the comments below!
