What Should Stay and What Should Go?

Saturday, March 27, 2010

When I enter the studios, it just has that feeling of pure magic. One of the many great things about the Studios is, it offers so much that the other parks don't.

Of course, each park is unique...but the Studios has a different kind of magic, offered through attractions like Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, and one of my all-time favorites: Star Tours.

Lets blast off in to a galaxy far, far away and talk about what's being done with Star Tours not too far, far down the road.

Next year, a major revamp will bring Star Tours fans an extra dose of magic, when you have the chance to view the adventure in 3D. Very cool! Now if you're already motion-ill from seeing Star Tours, this might not be a good option for ya. I'm predicting that they'll offer a non-3D version, such like Mission Space offers the 'spinning version' and the 'non-spinning version' through colors when you first enter the queue.

One of the greatest things about Star Tours as a whole is the queue. I've talked on Studios Central before about how the queue in Tower of Terror adds so much magic to the entire plot of the attractions story. In the case of Star Tours, it immediately brings you in to 'their world' with music, lighting and sounds that only Disney (and I suppose, George Lucas) could do.

What makes this attraction's queue exciting the most, to me, is the sounds. Theu truly make you believe that you are in some form of intergalactic airport ready to blast off on a Star Speeder.

Added elements like "Paging Mr. Egroeg Sacul", along with their ads throughout the queue (and of course, the unforgettable talking droids), makes the attraction spectacular.

Also with the sounds in the queue comes the "Star Tours theme". I love it. I certainly hope they don't touch it.

How about you? Are you looking forward to this revamp? Are there elements in the queue you'd like to stay, and some you'd like changed?

I'd love to hear from you!
