Brick

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

This week, we are featuring photos from around Disney's Hollywood Studios that have a theme of "brick" to them.  Let's see what we have to look!

Photo by Bonnie Smith of Lake Placid, FL

Our first photo comes from in front of Hollywood & Vine restaurant and if you happen to glance above the restaurant, you will find apartments for rent and you can definitely tell that the building is made of bricks (well, it looks like it's made of bricks at least).  Great shot!

"Monkeyin Around" by Express Monorail

This is a shot of the monkeys (of a Barrel Full of Monkeys fame) arranged together on Pixar Place with the brick layout in the background.  Interesting story about the bricks in Pixar Place, the theme for the exterior of Toy Story Midway Mania replicates (on a smaller scale) the Pixar Animation Studios building in California. To be even more convincing that the faux-pas building will loook like it's real counterpart, Disney brought in the company that made the bricks for Pixar´s building to make the bricks for Toy Story Midway Mania. It´s subtle, but that's the sort of thing that seperates Disney from the rest of the pack.

"Ton of Bricks" by LVnative

This photo is from the Prop Shop gift shop, located near the Studios Catering Company restaurant.  If you look up towards the ceiling, you'll see this ton of bricks in a net along with lots of other visual gags, which are relics from when the area was called "The Looney Bin" and featured lots of other crazy visual elements that were part of an area dedicated to a Roger Rabbit Toontown motif.

Be sure to send us your photos for next week, which will feature the theme of "wood".  Any photos you may have from Hollywood Studios that you think fits into the theme of "wood" can be sent to us to be featured in this column.
