Tonight the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights will begin at Disney's Hollywood Studios and if you want to see everything this holiday event has to offer, take advantage of these important tips.
Osborne Lights Basics
Disney advertises that the Osborne Lights turn on "at dusk". That's 6pm to the rest of the world.
The lights are on throughout the event but once every 20 minutes, a choreographed music sequence will occur where the lights turn on and off in coordination with the music that is playing. It is a must see and there are eight songs that the lights can dance to this year.
"Snow" will fall on the Streets of America during the event. It's really soap bubbles but the effect works....
Disney is added some new features to the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights for 2012.
Starting this year, guests will be able to meet Santa Goofy each night the Osborne Lights are shown in a special "Goofy's Winter Wonderland" area. This meet-n-greet will be located on the Streets of America.
Also new this year is an eigth song for the Osborne Lights to dance to. This new song is a special arrangement of the classic Christmas song, "Winter Wonderland" by Creative Entertainment Music Director Dan Stamper.
“As we talked about adding a new piece, we wanted to add something lyric and...
The best holiday display at Walt Disney World is the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, which takes place each year at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The 2012 dates have been announced so you can begin planning for them.
The Osborne Lights will be shown in 2012 on November 9 through January 4, 2013.
This is a Christmas time display that you won't want to miss!
Thanks to our friends at TouringPlans for alerting us to the news.
Last night I arrived in Hollywood Studios just in time to catch the opening ceremonies for the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights. This is probably my favorite holiday event that Disney holds every year. It's one the only things left in WDW that truly makes me feel like I'm a little kid again. It reminds me of when I was young my family would drive to Lake Lanier where they had a scenic route you would drive along, filled with lights, that led to a holiday village.
There was a group of guests there to celebrate the Osborne family, with the tragic passing of Jennings Osborne this year. The lights haven't changed much, but it still holds that holiday magic that Jennings created. It is definitely not to be missed if you're coming to Disney World for the holidays.
It's hard to believe but the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights begins next week and we're inviting you to join us for a meet to enjoy the lights together.
Our plan is to meet up before the Osborne Lights turn on, enjoy the ceremony that turns the lights on and the walk around and enjoy the ambiance of the Osborne Lights.
When: Saturday, November 12 at 5:30pm
Where: Meet in front of the large Christmas tree that is across from Youse Guys Moichendise on the Streets of America
We're looking forward to hanging out with other fans of Studios Central and enjoying some time in the parks!
If you're planning on coming, let us know by...
We've been waiting for it for the past few weeks, but today Disney has begun putting up the first strands of lights for the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights for this year.

The process of putting up the lights will encompass the next few weeks as Disney's Cast Members prepare the Streets of America to be transformed for the Osborne Lights 2011 premiere on November 10, 2011.
Jennings Osborne, the man responsible for the creation of the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, has died today from complications following heart surgery performed in April in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Osborne suffered a stroke and heart attack in August 2010 and doctors decided to go ahead with surgery.
In a statement, Jennings' daughter Breeze remembered her father fondly, "My father was an amazing man who all my life showed what a big heart he had for everyone, young and old and regardless of background or wealth. Sadly my father's big heart finally gave out. But knowing my 'Dadoo', there will be fireworks at the gates of Heaven. We want to...
In Private Party Venues at Disney's Hollywood Studios – Part II, we looked at event possibilities at the Great Movie Ride, The Magic of Disney Animation, Journey into Narnia: Prince Caspian and Hollywood Hideaway. Today we'll finish up our tour of the park with a look at several events on the Streets of America—including Lights, Motors, Action! and the Backstage Prop Shop—plus Pixar Place and Echo Lake. Most of these events are of the high-dollar, corporate variety, but the Prop Shop offers an economical alternative.
When the park closes, the toys come alive at Pixar Place for a carnival-style party just for you! While most events at Disney's Hollywood Studios start with guests being escorted to the venue by guides, for a party at Pixar Place you can hire Sarge and the...
Good news for those already looking forward to winter time, the dates for the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights have been announced.
This year's event will take place November 10, 2011 - January 3, 2012. It's roughly the same dates as 2010, although this year's event will start two days later.
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights are displayed on the Streets of America and are on the premier holiday displays that occur at Walt Disney World each year.
Thank you to Stitch Kingdom for the news tip!
Believe it or not, the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights is almost over for 2010 so it's time to highlight the best parts of the lights this year.
The Black Cat
A fan favorite to try and find every year is the black cat light display. The black cat in the Osborne Lights is a hidden joke among the Imagineers. It's actually a Halloween light display that was accidently included in the lights the Osborne family sent to Walt Disney World. Cast Members hide the cat each year and this year it was located behind the staircase near the Funeral...
