More NextGen work is scheduled for Disney's Hollywood Studios.  The work scheduled is likely infrastructure work and nothing that will be noticeable by guests today but is part of the larger work needed to make the NextGen initative in Walt Disney World a reality.

We've gotten word that two new "NextGen" initiatives are being undertaken by Walt Disney World at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  NextGen is the colloquial term for the anticipated (but not officially confirmed) next generation guest experience in Walt Disney World.

First is for the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, which will receive "NGE Queue Modifications".  The Tower of Terror and Star Tours have already or are in progress of receiveing similar upgrades.  ...


We've heard rumors about the NextGen technology coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios and even spotted some intriguing looking boxes in front of Tower of Terror and Star Tours, but today we've got a solid report with dates of what we can expect.

We're hearing that the Tower of Terror will receive NextGen queue modifications from February 21, 2012 through April 2, 2012.  Likewise, Star Tours will also receive NextGen queue modifications from February 27,2012 through March 16.

Disney's Imagineers have been quietly working on resort-wide enhancements known as "NextGen" that look for ways to improve elements of Walt Disney World with technology.  Disney recently filed paperwork with the county to improve upon nearly a dozen attracitons with NextGen, including four from Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The paperwork filed describes much of the work as "queue modification" and lists a project completion date of October 1, 2012.
