On this date in 1989, the Disney-MGM Studios officially opened its gates to the public and the greatest theme park in Walt Disney World was born. Hard to imagine how much would have changed in the following 23 years, but today, Disney's Hollywood Studios celebrates its opening and I can't help but take a look back at the Studios' beginning.

All the buzz this week around the Disney Internet community is the fact that Saturday marks the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Magic Kingdom (and Walt Disney World as a whole). It's a big day for the Magic Kingdom and rightfully so. Some of the days events have been announced already and other aspects are remaining a surprise.
I thought it would be fun to take a look back at Disney's Hollywood Studios' 20th Anniversary celebration that took place a year and a half ago. We may see some overlap in terms of what Disney does to celebrate the Magic Kingdom's 40th compared to what it did for the Studios.
