Disney's Imagineers have been quietly working on resort-wide enhancements known as "NextGen" that look for ways to improve elements of Walt Disney World with technology. Disney recently filed paperwork with the county to improve upon nearly a dozen attracitons with NextGen, including four from Disney's Hollywood Studios.
The paperwork filed describes much of the work as "queue modification" and lists a project completion date of October 1, 2012.
The attractions at Hollywood Studios slated to be improved by NextGen include
- Voyage of the Little Mermaid
- Toy Story Midway Mania
- Fantasmic! Ampitheater
- Theater of the Stars (Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage!)
There very well could be more attractions added to the list as we move forward. For Theater of the Stars, this work is in addition to the proposed expansion plans for the Theater of the Stars that were revealed earlier this month.
