What's coming in 2011 to Hollywood Studios

The new year kicks off in just a few days and with 2011 right around the corner, it's time to look at what will be new in Hollywood Studios in the coming new year.

Disney Junior – Live on Stage!

A favorite among toddlers, Playhouse Disney - Live on Stage! is set to be replaced by Disney Junior – Live on Stage!.  This is more of an attraction update than a completely new show.  It will remove television shows that are no longer in active development and replace them with some newer shows.

Every few years Disney updates this attraction to reflect the current lineup of television shows on the Disney Channel aimed at the preschool set.  This year, Disney is overhauling its Playhouse Disney lineup completely and renaming it Disney Junior and the attraction will reflect these changes.

Disney Junior - Live on Stage! will open in March of 2011

Pixar Pals Countdown To Fun!

After almost three years, Hollywood Studios' afternoon parade, Block Party Bash, will have its last performance on January 1, 2011 and be replaced by a new parade called Pixar Pals Countdown To Fun!.

This new parade will feature more Pixar characters while retaining the characters (and floats) from Block Party Bash.  Unlike Block Party Bash, Pixar Pals Countdown To Fun! will be a more traditional afternoon parade and therefore will not stop at certain points to deploy a show.  Instead, it will follow the same parade route but be a continuous display for all to enjoy regardless of where you are.

Pixar Pals Countdown To Fun! first performance is January 16, 2011.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue

Star Tours has been closed for 3 months now and major construction will really get going in January 2011 as Imagineers get hard at work on the sequel attraction, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue

So what is this new Star Tours attraction? It's going to take Star Tours and enhance every aspect of it.  The simulators will now feature a 3D ride with a greater axis of movement.  In addition, there will be 54 possible experiences, meaning the ride will be different each time you ride.  And that's just what we know.  Disney has been tight lipped on what other surprises this will have but Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is sure to be the highlight of the year in terms of new attractions.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is rumored be open by May 17, 2011.

As you can see, there's a lot to look forward to in the first half of 2011. Which new attraction are you most looking forward to checking out?
