The Legend of Captain Jack Sparow is an immersive show that takes you through the best-known experiences of Captain Jack Sparrow from all four of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Like the attractions that were in the same soundstage it calls home, the Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow is a walk-through attraction that is more a show than an exhibit.
Guests walk into a small room that has a stone structure that features a talking skull on top. The skull dares you to enter and see if you are ready to see pirate adventure. Once you pass through, you enter a grotto area where you will be literally surrounded by pirates, sirens and more well-known characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. A giant pirate skull is your guide through the life and times of Jack Sparrow and gives you the instructions you will need to be a pirate too. The climax of the attraction features none other than Captain Jack Sparrow himself, as he leads you into battle against Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman.
Throughout the show, you will see the story unfold all around you as you feel like you're part of the action.
The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow is a quick eight-minute show that shows the "best of" moments from the Pirates films. While it isn't anything remotely like a headliner attraction, it's a fun show for fans of the films. The technical achievements in the show are definitely what makes this stand apart, especially Jack Sparrow himself. Utilizing high definition projections, it looks like Captain Jack Sparrow is in the room with you and along with the projects of skeletons, monsters and battle damage all around you, it's pretty darn impressive.
Unlike the other attractions that at one time were in this soundstage, there is no exhibit of props from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Once the show is over, guests are escorted out the door to make way for the next group. There's rumors that props will be added in the future, but for now nothing to see. We think the show is more than enough to take in but some fans may be disappointed by the omission.
If you've never seen this attraction, we encourage you to check it out for the great visuals to indulge in. Disney refers to it as an "immersive theatrical experience" and it delivers on that promise. It's "re-rideability" certainly isn't big but something you should try to see at least once. We should note there are two different introductions that Captain Jack Sparrow makes when he appears, so it's worth seeing both of them.
